Who am I?
Adrian Hadland is an award-winning, bestselling author who has published more than 20 books and 50 articles and reports on a wide range of topics from historical biographies and children’s books to academic monographs.
His latest books are Critical Issues in Photojournalism (Routledge 2025), Christmas with Mandela (LBB 2025), The South African Press 1920-50 (LBB 2025) and Starting a Successful Bed and Breakfast Business (LBB 2025).
Adrian worked as a professional political journalist for more than 15 years covering events – including South Africa’s transition to democracy – in Africa as well as in Asia, the US and in Europe.
After spending a few years teaching in mainland China where he was Head of the International Communications Division at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, he is currently a Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Stirling, and Programme Director for the undergraduate journalism programme.
He is also a regular expert for the accreditation of journalism courses in eastern Europe, including in Georgia (2023, 2024) and in Lithuania (2024).
